My experience at MudFest.

I’ve been told there are many things to do in Daecheon, and the area was certainly beautiful. I enjoyed my time, and will probably make it back before my time here in Korea is up. If you need to know how to get to MudFest from Osan AB, click here!

I spent Friday and part of Saturday afternoon in Daecheon at MudFest. From this time I have some pointers to help you do it better. First of all, don’t expect anything crazy on Friday. It might be a good time to check out the local area, hang out on the beach, and get settled in at your hotel, but it’s not going to necessarily be the time of your life. We got in early and realized the day was not going to be too eventful. There were some people, mostly Koreans, participating in the activities. Maybe the fact that I had been up for 22 hours when I started my journey to the area had something to do with it, but I just wasn’t feeling it. In my opinion, it was the night time events that are worth it. I still had a good time during the day, but wouldn’t go back just for that. Having arrived on Friday though, there were no night time events. Those, I found out later, are more of a Saturday thing. As are the large crowds, fireworks, and most things that make it worth your time. So that would be tip number 1. Second of all, bring clothes you can toss on the way out of the hotel. No one wants to haul back dried muddy clothes anywhere. Lastly, tip 3, bring a waterproof bag if you plan on participating in any of the day time fun.

Those were the big ones. Other than that I have some more isolated information regarding the area. There’s a particular club, SSUM, that you will most likely have their card handed to you. Avoid this place at all costs. While the atmosphere was good, it didn’t out weigh the cons. This place charges 20,000 to get in. You get a free, cheap beer. The lowest price of any of the drinks was a shot of jack for 8,000. The rest were 10 ,000 to 15,000 won a piece! And worst of all, the place was full of guys who were dressed like they had just come from the gym. Although, to be honest, who ¬†knows if you will be able to avoid that anywhere. There’s only a few clubs, and a few bars around. I didn’t find any places to eat I enjoyed, but they have a lot of seafood if you like that. ATMs are accessible anytime. Don’t forget to bring a towel!

That’s all I’ve got on this one. If you have any advice on MudFest, please comment below!
